Recently it was revealed in an article in the Illinois Times that he has been arrested 11 times. He was arrested in Texas with between 5 and 50 pounds of marijuana. He was arrested another time for having a handgun and ammo without a FOIA. He was arrested for hitting someone with his car and attempting to hit 3 other people. He paid (and/or is still paying $75,000 in restitution for that one.)
At the time of Turner's hire, Alexander Ikejiaku was director of human resources for District 186 and Walter Milton was the superintendent. Oh and for the record, his Mother is an Alderman in Springfield. Hmmmm. Makes you wonder doesn't it.Not only was he hired, but now that this information has gone public, the School District is relentlessly standing behind Blake Turner. Interim Superintendent says, "“It is well documented that the criminal background check produced a lot of things that needed to be looked into,” Hill said. “They were looked into with great rigor by the human resources department.”
Do we really want a convicted THUG running a basketball program with our kids? Are we going to stand for it? No. The answer is no.
