Well, think about removing someone just as vital to the club in the same sense. And if your you’re so worried about “our kids”, it’s the very action that was put in place that caused them to be upset in the first place.

It’s concerning to me that we as a group of adults have made this so public- to our kids. It doesn’t support their teams or their experience.
We need to focus on supporting our players and community of North Mississippi. This is dividing it.

Wasn’t Shaun hired to schedule and organize all tournaments for the girls soccer? I have a daughter in the program and his name was always given to us as the one to “go to” with our frustrations regarding lack of play.

Removing Mark Halbert as President would be a big mistake. Mark is very knowledgeable and passionate about this game and especially in doing his best in creating a atmosphere of growth for the kids in this club. Suzie is correct that the problems started when Christian left. This new club was a major change for all of us, and Christian left at probably the most critical time. This put Mark in a very difficult situation. He is NOT the issue with the state of the club. Mark is working very hard to keep this program together. As a person, you cannot ask for a better man. Anyone that says he's not liked or is a bad leader doesn't know Mark. I personally trust Mark 100% and feel he will do everything possible for success in our club.

Thanks for understanding Suzanne. From my perspective, though, having no knowledge of the person he is to make a decision regarding someone that has cared about the soccer program as much as Shaun has for Oxford, and personally for us out of towner’s is felt in the same manner. For our age group, after Jordan Darling left, our girls team felt a big loss! Fortunately for us, Shaun came in with a more mature style of training/coaching. At first, you could tell the girls were a bit stand offish, but after about the third training session, it was apparent to the girls that he was there to train them with the soccer skill set they needed. Moreover, he has mentored them in such a way that they have gained not only better skills, but a soccer maturity and mentality. Lastly, let’s not forget that Shaun was a very crucial part of the reason this whole club thing was considered (for Oxford anyway). Personally speaking, without him giving it his graces, we might would not have signed off on it. And to have that critical connection removed from our side doesn’t give me confidence that my child’s interests are being considered.

Completely understand the frustration with the soccer program. The problem began when Christian left and continued to get worse with the lack of communication from Oxford coaches and/or staff with Tupelo parents/teams. Those frustrations very well could be felt in Oxford but as a Tupelo parent I can’t not speak for them. Mark Halbert has been a huge supporter of the Tupelo soccer program and coaches for well over 10+ years. He is very passionate about soccer in Mississippi and has always had an open door regarding any concerns our family has encountered in this transition.

My greatest concern is how the leadership of a young club can make such a quick, unilateral and far reaching decision without regard to the consequences and disregard of transparency is reckless!!
