Defunding Texas A&M University Due to DEI and Liberal Policy Violations

We, the undersigned, call for the defunding of Texas A&M University in response to its continued implementation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and policies perceived as promoting liberal ideologies, which we believe violate Texas state law and undermine the university’s commitment to merit-based education.

In 2023, Texas Senate Bill 17 (SB 17) prohibited public universities from maintaining DEI offices, mandating DEI statements, or giving preferential treatment based on race, sex, or ethnicity. Despite this, reports and public records indicate that Texas A&M University has engaged in activities that may contravene these regulations. For instance, in January 2025, controversy arose when the university was linked to a DEI-focused conference restricted to specific racial groups, prompting criticism from state officials, including Governor Greg Abbott, who argued it violated Texas law. Furthermore, internal documents and statements from university leadership have been cited as evidence of ongoing DEI prioritization, which critics argue promotes ideological conformity over academic freedom and meritocracy.

Additionally, concerns have been raised about the university’s broader cultural shift, with some stakeholders alleging that Texas A&M has adopted policies and curricula that emphasize progressive ideologies, potentially at the expense of its traditional values and mission as a land-grant institution. These actions, including past DEI programming and faculty hiring practices, are seen by petitioners as misaligning with the expectations of Texas taxpayers and students who fund and attend the university.

Texas A&M Law School also participates in grant funded programs that provide free legal aid to women who want to divorce their husbands (amazingly almost none of these "violent abusive men" end up with a single criminal charge, how is that possible). While performing such duties, Texas A&M Law School, its professors, and grad students have apparently been committing felonies and insturcting grad students on the science of committing felonies with a Bar Card, all with our tax-payer funding. See Press Release HERE. TAMU has a long history of disregarding our state statutes and even simple decency, yet they suckle off the teets of the taxpayer.

Lastly, Texas A&M has fought tooth and nail to present Drag Shows and celebrate perversion a part of its model of higher education. This intentional disregard for societal and legislative responsibilities is a hallmark of this now corrupt organization.

We respectfully urge the Texas Legislature and relevant authorities to redirect funding from Texas A&M University until it fully complies with SB 17 and demonstrates a commitment to ideologically neutral, merit-based education that serves all Texans equitably. This petition seeks accountability and alignment with state law to preserve the integrity of public higher education.
