This petition is to gauge interest and support for a dedicated mountain bike trail to be developed on the gedling country park site, nottingham.

The county park seated on one of the highest part of nottingham is a potentially perfect site for a single track mountain bike trail due to the 240 acres of open space and the gradient of the land, this would allow several km's of graded low maintenance, high featured trial to but created with ease.

When the park was in its planning stages there was mention of cycle paths would be developed, but it never came to fruition in full, instead they have allowed cyclist to use the marked "footpaths" along with the walkers, joggers etc, this makes it potentially dangerous to both rider and walkers, this is why there is a ban on riding bikes on footpaths in much of the countryside.

Gedling council and friends of Gedling park are currently in the planning stages of adding a £1.2m heritage museum to the site along with a cafe and outdoor seating area, I believe that the addition ammount of visitors to come to the site to use the trails would be great for business for the centre and the local community.

The nearest dedicated mountain bike trails are situated at sherwood pines and cannock chase, both of these venues are busy throughout the year.

i have been in contact with a company called Architrail they have help create and develop several sites around the uk, here's a link to their website so you can have a look at their portfolio and see what potentially could be on your very own doorstep.

Hi, this is an ideal and must location with a hill for graded trails and a pump track close for everyone in the area. You only have to see the amazing setups in Sheffield on area's similar to this which the Councils have been involved with.

I agree with is as it will help the local economy and general health of the local population. I frequent Sherwood pines and Cannock chase and both are thriving recreational sites for all the family, if the same could be replicated at Gedling it should be a no brainer for the council. Best for now Pete Irons

I think this would be fantastic for the local area. I already regularly ride at Gedling Country Park and think the park would greatly benefit from dedicated cycling trails. With the elevation and gradient available I think there is potential for a very popular venue.

yes a little like sherwood pines, but with the option to use a natural gradient to provide a more exhilarating ride with a few easy advanced options, maybe a few rock gardens, small tabletops, plenty of berms, not just a featureless route like sherwood pines is..

Excellent idea, the site and terrain attract mountain bikers anyway, but the mix with walkers and joggers is not comfortable- at some point informal paths for cycling may become a problem or cycling banned which would be a loss and hard to enforce. A dedicated mtb track(s) would be a real asset.

I have cycled in the GCP for many years I would really like to cycle there without the worry of dogs and pedestrians

Would be great for the local community, and the younger generation.
