Petitioning for the needed mountain bike skills area in Halpatiokee. This petition is to get the approval of Martin County Parks and Rec. for the construction of learning area with technical trail features. These features would represent most of the conditions that exist on local trails; ie. log overs, skinnies, rock gardens and dirt mounds for riders to learn and improve skills in a safe enviroment. These areas have been constucted in many of the State Park systems, and aid in advancement of the sport of mountain biking. We aren\'t asking for this in every park nor are we asking for this to be some unsightly area. What we are proposing is an area constructed of pressure treated wood and built to the IMBA (International Mountain Bike Associations) standards. We want environmentally responsible, natural surface progressive technical trail features in a family-friendly condensed area in Martin County and designed and built IMBA standards. Please sign the petition to help create a Martin County Mountain Bike Skills Park.

This would be so awesome for the kids around here. My son is always looking for a place to practice jumps and stuff.

Total waste of money if you ask me. Why do we need logs and rocks in a public park?

Halpatiokee is the perfect spot for this. We need to give the mountain bikers a dedicated place to ride so they stop trying to build stuff in the woods where they aren't supposed to.

Finally some progress. The local riding community is growing fast and we definitely need more features like these to keep getting better.

Riding is dangerous if you dont have a place to learn the basics first. Hope they approve this asap.
