The power is back on for the families in Crow Creek. I am honestly stunned by the relief this brings and I know full well that this outcome belongs entirely to your compassion. Please keep watching this situation because we cannot let this happen ever again.
It has come to our concern that the cooperation called Electric Central Cooperative is cutting off the power (again) in a deadly freeze from 40 below 0 in South Dakota. Families (with young children) have no heat or electricity at all. It also comes to our concern that they pay a 1/3 higher than anywhere in the State with an average income of under 5k. CEC IS responsable for people who freeze till death and loosing income;works that needs to be done (for example) waterpipes that will break because of the freezing weather. We want to know why the government does not take responsibility for protecting its citizens against these predatory practices of cec? Is the greed of Cenral Electrc Cooperative so big that violations of human rights is justified? We will monitor this situation closely and hold thoose who have the power to change this deadly policy for the better, responsible! Sincerely,
I am truly overwhelmed by the stories people are sending me about the freezing conditions they are facing right now. It is clear that this is about so much more than just a power bill because your courage in speaking up is what is forcing people to finally pay attention.

I am truly overwhelmed by the way so many of you have stepped up to highlight the situation at Crow Creek. None of this growth would be happening without the time you took to bring attention to these families. It is humbling to realize how many people care about this injustice.

This is completely insane. Nobody should be left in the dark during a polar vortex. What is wrong with these people?

Fix the pipes and turn the power back on. People are going to get sick or worse if this keeps up. Unbelievable.

Absolute shame. Keeping families in the cold is a human rights violation plain and simple.

How can they charge more than the rest of the state when people are struggling so much? Greed is ruining this town.

40 below zero is no joke. Cutting off heat to families with little kids is just plain murder. Do better.
