The Palm Beach County School Board and Elementary School principals do not allow parents to accompany the Safety Patrol Field Trip to Washington, D.C. As parents of elementary age children, we object to parents not being allowed to accompany the Safety Patrols on the DC Trip. We hereby petition the Palm Beach County School Board and the Palm Beach County Elementary School principals to allow parents on the Safety Patrol Field Trip to Washington, D.C.
I have spent the last few days trying to get a straight answer from the district about their liability concerns but the bureaucracy is exhausting. It is clear they want us to accept this policy without question but we are not going to back down yet.

Had to disappoint our child on a trip she had been dreaming about since Kindergarten. Her trip is scheduled for 2024.

My son was a safety patrol many years ago. Because of his disability, I was told that "maybe it would be a better idea to take him with the family over the summer. "
EVENTUALLY THEY AGREED IF MY HUSBAND COULD PAY, THEN HE COULD GO. AND HE DID! So if the school district ever states that no parent who is not an employee has ever been on the safety patrol trip to D.C., Just give them my name.

If they have nothing to hide they should have no problem with volunteers being present. Parents deserve to be with their kids on such a long trip.

RIDICULOUS policy. I would gladly pay my own way to chaperone and supervise the kids. This feels like they just want to hide what happens on these trips.

My daughter is so scared to go alone. She is only ten and has never been away from home. Why is the district making it so hard to keep our kids safe?

The school board needs to get with the times. Other districts let parents go so why are we stuck in the dark ages? My son will not be going if I cant be there.
