Petition to stop Castle View High School from continuing to have gender-oriented spirit days and the Battle of the Sexes assembly. These activities are perpetuating gender roles and stereotyping and are non-inclusive to multigender individuals (trans, genderfluid, nonbinary, etc).

I was the GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) leader for almost a year and half, and I gotta say, I'm all for gay rights and equality in the school, but that community of teenagers has to understand that their not the only ones fighting for equality and they shouldn't act as entitled as they did when I was their leader. That groups attitude, and overall hypocrisy is the only reason I left the group as a leader and a member.
Gender-oriented spirit days are always uncomfortable for me, even in theory. Especially things like "Battle of the Sexes". As well as excluding gender identities, things like this exclude intersex people and deepen the rift between the binary genders viewed by society. Honestly, practices like this don't belong anywhere, let alone in an environment that should be conducive to learning and shaping young minds.
the wording on the petition (putting trans/genderfluid/nonbinary as separate things n implying that people who are 2/3 of those are inherently 'multigender' etc) so u should probably fix that bc your intention is good
Gender should never stop a student from participating in the academic spirit. School is by far one of the most important aspects of human socialization, especially in the teenage years. No student should feel pressured to hide their gender identity in the name of school spirit - rather, that spirit should be changed to be inclusive. Diversity should be of utmost importance in public schooling.
Screw gender norms. Days like "battle of the sexes" tend to be especially sexist.

Those assemblies are inherently sexist, and though I'm not lgbtq, I could see how these could make t and q uncomfortable. You might want to change the title though, as it doesn't clearly state the goal of the petition.
