My school had a dress code sweep today and THE ONLY PEOPLE dress coded were girls. This is sending the message that girls bodies are inherently sexual, that my clothes define who I am as a person and that my clothes are more important than my education. I am so tired of being told that my body is a distraction. Dress code needs to be reformed.

The momentum is incredible. It shows exactly how many of us are done with these arbitrary rules.

This is absolutely ridiculous, guys are sagging and out of dress code all the damn time, but none of the guys get dress coded. What if the girls go rabid for their shoulders and thighs too? Jesus people, we're not animals or objects. It's not like we're bending over begging any guy to come take us right then and there like a dog in heat. I'm signing this for a valid reason. Women are not objects of sex for men.

I'm so tired of the over sexualization of women and it disgusts me that my own school, a place that is supposed to make me feel safe and accepted, is telling girls that they're bodies are nothing but sexual objects and that we can't say anything about it because we'd be telling people to break the rules. It's ridiculous how far this is going in the school system and we need to take action to change this for the better. It's sad that my bare shoulders or stomach skin is more important to the school than me getting materials and help that I need in school. The fact that mostly girls get DRESSCODED and SENT HOME because of what their wearing and miss class time tells me that my education is NOT priority or else this wouldn't be happeng.

I am DONE with women's bodies being overly sexualized in our society. No matter your gender, you should embrace the body you are given and never be shamed into thinking anything less. Dress is self expression. If baring my shoulders is considered a disruption in school but disrupting class time today to DRESS CODE girls for nike shorts and leggings and embarrass girls for wearing everyday clothes then I do not know what this society is coming to.
