We as Atlantic Station residents are fully aware of the need for a crosswalk between Mecaslin and 16th Street.
Furthermore, let this be a petition for all of 16th Street, so we, as the Atlantic Station community and our guests, will remain safe and visible in our neighborhood.
This is a glaring hazard.
Let's unite to make this happen.
Facts:
1) It is located on an incline, leading to poor visibility for motorists
2) Parking is allowed in too close of proximity, in relation to the stop sign on Mecaslin St.
-Further limiting visibility
2) Mecaslin St. NW is a through street. It is a densely populated area making it a frequently traveled area.
3)Accidents and near accidents have repeatedly occurred at this intersection, due to lack of visibility.
4) Additionally a new bus stop has been established on 16th Street NW for
Atlantic Station's Free Shuttle, which furthers the need for a crosswalk

I was looking at the intersection earlier and realized how many people are actually behind this now which is honestly wild because just a few weeks ago I felt like I was shouting into a void. It is strange how fast things shift once people realize that yes we are all dealing with the exact same visibility nightmare on our way home.

It's also a hazard for children whom have to cross the road to catch the Atlanta public school bus at that same area.
I live at this corner and see and hear many accidents. My husband and I were almost run over by a police officer at this intersection due to poor lighting at the time and lack of crosswalk. Well, and that the officer wasn't paying attention apparently. ;)
As a senior resident of this community, I totally support the need for a crosswalk and truly appreciate the much needed new Atlantic Station Shuttle Stop.
I was in an accident at this intersection where the at fault driver didn't yield after stopping at a stop sign to my right of way. He did not live in the area and was confused about both the lack of a 4-way stop in addition to extremely poor visibility due to all the parked cars. I think the solution is a 4-way stop instead of just two, a crosswalk, and eliminating the 16th st parking along the townhouses.

This is more than needed. Especially with the bus stop now across the street, and cars allowed to park in front of the town homes which block the view.
I have seen a few accidents at this intersection. The new parking near the corner is so dangerous, and there absolutely needs to be a very visible crosswalk here.

I need to cross this road almost everyday. It's a dangerous place because the cars are coming from 4 directions. Also there are a lot of cars parked on 16th street which could aggravate this situation more since the cars block the view of speeding cars.
