There are thousands of college students who each year tryout and have the privilege to support their universities by being marching band members. These students must juggle their scholastics and personal lives while putting in hours and hours of practice time during each week and weekends in the fall; just like football players. They only receive recognition by those in attendance at their given games and hardly receive any air time on the major networks, ESPN, Big Ten Network, etc. We the signers would like to see the creation of a program that could feature these shows weekly.

Updates

January 2, 2015

ESPN and the networks act like these athletes do not exist even though they work just as hard as the football teams. I am currently drafting a formal letter to the network executives demanding they stop ignoring these students. They can pretend the silence is normal but we are not going away.

You will make way more subscriptions from parents relitives and communities if they get to see their kids play in marching band at half time - you should share the time. football fans are not watching anyway, they are in the kitchen getting a beer and making sandwich.

Guess I should sign this, since I'm one of the dorks Jim Rome called out recently. Fight back, and in my case, Fight On!

This would be great exposure for one of the greatest aspects of collegiate athletics and higher education

Marching Band is not only physically demanding, but mentally demanding. It is a sport in its own and deserves to be recognized as more than just "dorks on a field." You try being in a marching band and we will see who is a dork then.

So many supporters of these sports teams also support their marching bands, and will mention how they wish they could see the half-time shows on television because they cannot make it to the games live.

I think it would be even greater to have every halftime shown during college football games. Maybe even split screen coverage of the halftime show and coverage of the football analysis.

Being in a marching band takes so much dedication and hard work! These sportcasters need to give these kids more air time! Who wants to hear a stupid play by play during halftime anyway!!
