Cornerstone's Dress Code
Every Monday at Cornerstone, girls are required to wear a white blouse. These white blouses are not made of regular comfortable fabric. They are made of a material that is see-through and extremely intolerable. Cornerstone is all about modesty, yet these blouses are very see-through. Because of that, you have girls wearing a tank top or just a bra underneath (thus allowing the bra to be visible for all to see). Wearing a tank-top underneath is not practical as it defeats the very purpose of a shirt, not to mention how hot the girls get on particularly sunny days—weather that is not foreign in the slightest to Sacramento. Some girls even feel self-conscious in these blouses and wear a sweatshirt over them. That defeats the purpose of looking nice for chapel. Blouses are not made of a breathable fabric, and sweating in one of these is one of the grossest, irritating things. Not to mention, girls can’t have full mobility in these blouses. That’s why you’ll see many girls on Monday sitting at a table at lunch instead of playing volleyball or any other type of enjoyable activity. These blouses prevent girls from reaching out or moving their arms in certain ways. It is so cumbersome that girls are risking getting demerits on Mondays by not wearing the blouses. They will wear a t-shirt and a sweatshirt over it instead. Some may try to argue and say that boys have to wear ties on Monday, which is just as bad as blouses. First off, boys can take their ties off at lunch and, obviously, girls cannot take off their blouses at lunch; a tie is not a shirt, so that point is invalid. In replace, I believe a white polo will do instead of the blouse. There are many other reasons to get rid of these blouses that are not listed here.
