To Mr. Scot Kenworthy and Mr. Dave Johnson:

We the undersigned homeowners, taxpayers, tenants and residents of the Walnut street area, and fellow residents of Medford, respectfully request that the large, historic copper beech tree at 23 Walnut Street be preserved intact. We plea that as the owner and developer of the 23 Walnut Street property you will not cut done this historic tree nor severely threaten its health by making damaging cuts to its roots. We call on you Mr. Kenworthy as a professed tree lover to preserve this tree for the benefit of the citizens of Medford, the Walnut Street neighborhood, and the future residents of 23 Walnut Street. Please do not make our neighborhood and our city poorer for the loss of this historic copper beech tree.

Thank you in advance for doing the right thing and heeding our pleas.

The tree not only makes the property on which it sits, but makes the street. Please preserve it. I am sure its removal would impact the sale price of the condos in the beautifully renovated house.

That tree is a crucial habitat for many of our local birds and animals as well as many migrating birds. The tree is also helping to keep air pollution down. It provides shade and is beautiful to look at. I pass by it every day. Too many trees have been cut down already in our neighborhood.

I grew up three houses away from the house and dreamed of buying it some day, to build a tree house in it. As I grew up and moved away, I still drive down Walnut to see the house and that majestic tree! Heartbroken that anyone would consider cutting that beautiful, living, breathing spectacle of nature..

This Tree not only needs to preserved by the current developer but needs protection written into the deed for future buyers. The only reason it should ever come down is if multiple arborists agree that it is dead.

This tree is so beautiful and adds so much to the neighborhood. When I lived there I walked by it everyday with my young son and we watched it change through the seasons. Please preserve it for generations to come.

This tree is likely over 200 years old. It predates the historic home. There are very, very few trees left in Medford as old as this. This tree is not replaceable and if it is removed or its health threatened, all of us in Medford will be that much poorer.

It's an amazing tree and needs to be kept safe.
