The purpose of this petition is to permanently stop construction of property formerly promoted as the "Moon Mountain Villas,” two 7000+ square foot homes with future guest houses under development since September 2013. For nine months, the development has been in violation of building codes, subjected the neighborhood to hazardous conditions and created various nuisances generating ongoing concerns and complaints. The property was red-tagged with stop work orders in February 2014 followed with a lawsuit filed by County of Sonoma in May 2014 against the negligent absentee owner/investors for “dilapidated conditions,” building violations, and fire hazards.

During this period while the fate of the property is determined, we do not support any attempts by the county to offer variances or allow building to resume at a future date with modifications for the owners. Individuals associated with this development knowingly disregarded design guidelines, violated county building codes, subjected the neighborhood to on-going nuisances and hazardous conditions, and imposed upon the community and scenic corridor two inappropriate oversized substandard structures that appear more commercial in a residentially zoned neighborhood.

We support these structures being torn down and replaced with a design that is compatible with the neighborhood, the surrounding community and preservation of the Sonoma Valley scenic corridor with appropriate setbacks, size and height limitations.

Project never should have happened and needs to come down. How does a project like this get through the planning department with unlicensed contractor, no insurance, countless code violations, no water, no electricity, and poorly designed structures out-of-scale to the lot and neighborhood?

Unbelievable this project has gotten this far. I would think initial inspections would have halted things almost from the start. Was shocked to see them build the foundation around trees that were supposed to be protected, and once the lower walls were up the trees were cut down. Sneaky and unethical all the way through this project.

as the Landscape Architect responsible for the project adjacent to this project, in which we carefully created a landscape that repeated the native and rural character of the area, I was appalled to see this built with virtually no review or input from the public. This project should not allowed to flaunt the spirt and letter of local planning regulations.

I own the propertay at 1292 Moon Mountain Dr. It's been depressing and agrivating to see what's happened on that corner..

I have lived in this neighborhood for over 15 years. This development is in violation of building codes as well as being an absolute eye sore. What more needs to be said? Please tear this construction down and redesign something that is more compatible with the neighborhood.

This project really was not planned in the context of what the community needs or what the gateway to the Sonoma Valley should look like, leaving the Springs. I know we have support from our local Supervisor and the broader community. After working through difficult issues with the prior proposed development, its time do this right. Tear it down and start over.

It's hideous and bring the beautiful surrounding neighborhood down.

Building is a privilege, not a right. Like driving a car. Property owners must adhere to laws and rules governing construction.
