Believe it or not, conflict diamonds are a lot more present in today's society than we think. They are used by rebels to fund wars in Africa. Every day, people get tortured and mutilated just for this little stone we so unfortunately seem to desire. Just the fact that people are buying these diamonds without properly informing themselves about them, is enough to put hundreds of lives at stake. In Canada we have adopted something called the Kimberly process. As a result, all diamonds coming into the country are conflict free diamonds, but certain country's have not yet seen the importance of adopting this process, therefor many people are still buying conflict diamonds. By signing this petition we will be speaking up for the rights of those who cannot. Those who have lost everything to the cause. Help others understand the importance of Blood diamonds. Inform yourselves before even considering buying diamonds and spread the word about this horrific injustice.
