Started by Nigel Owen (Powell) 16 years, 1 month ago

This petition was started by former Child Migrant Nigel Owen (Powell) after the UK Government closed the petition on the No.10 website.

This petition is to obtain compensation for all Child Migrants that were trafficked by the UK Government some as young as three, to British colonies namely Australia, to a life of abuse and brutality, their childhoods stolen. The former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown stated in his apology on the 24th. February 2010 “THAT ALL FORMER CHILD MIGRANTS WOULD BE LOOKED AFTER AS LONG AS THEY WERE ALIVE”.

AS YET THE GOVERNMENT HAVE NOT!

Compensation would allow the aging Child Migrants who are still alive to get some closure on this horrific part of British history they all endured.

PLEASE SUPPORT THE PETITION AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS

This scheme that enabled children to be relocated to Australia without their consent and understanding was child abuse. Compensation must be paid to assist to alleviate their suffering. An apology is not enough.

the government took me from my family using a lot of lies at the age of 4yrs old put me in a home in Australia where I was abused sexually physicly and mentaly and you say that is alright at 4years old I must have been a hell of a threat plus my fathers name was signed by my mother so that was illegal

Dear Nigel. My grandad was also sent to Australia by UK government, on 1929 to 1937 when aged 21 and they repatriated him. He never got the after care that our family and society deserve. The wounds deepen without honesty and justice including accountability . Please can you email me to discuss our shared issues?

The UK must have and still probably has the coldest heart in the world when it comes down to slave labour, there is not enough money in the world that can compensate slave labour, torture, sexual abuse and raping of children, by Authorities that people believed in. In this world today they Isis is evil but they take second place to the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Rhodesia, South Africa and all the other Countries that stole the souls of children.

Compensation to the victims of the institutional abuse of children involved in child migration needs to be addressed while the approximately 2000 survivors are still alive!

I narrowly escaped being sent to Australia as a child in 1952 because some distant relatives had other ideas, though not one that was in my interests.

Ashley Rampling

My grandfather was a child migrant.

Juliana Garaty

This needs to be done NOW

Dorell Pirie

Compensation needs to be offered without question and without opening old wounds. Some of the migrants will have managed to survive by blocking out the worst of their experiences and creating new memories. This doesn't mean they don't deserve some recompense. Indeed, the surviving families of migrants have also suffered enormously because of the scheme. How could these grown up migrants behave as normal loving parents when they had no experience of it in their childhood. Their poor start has just been perpetuated. Already, the family situations this has created have been devastating in many cases.

My grandad used to tell me about his friends in England who went on a ship to Aus and they never saw them again. I forgot about it until I came across Margaret Humphreys book and the story has changed my life and my perspective. You strong, amazing people. Who stood in the face of abuse and evil and found the determination to pull through and survive so you could share your story. You are my new heroes and I will continue to help and share your story for as long as I can. GOD BLESS YOU, I LOVE YOU.
