To the City of Big Spring, Property Stakeholders, and Community Decision-Makers,

We, the undersigned residents and supporters of Big Spring, Texas, respectfully and enthusiastically submit this petition in support of Mundy and Lupita Weeks in their effort to purchase and develop the historic “Texas Building” located on the 200 block of South Main Street.

Although Lupita and Mundy are originally from Premont, TX, they chose to make Big Spring their home in 2023. Since then, their commitment to our city has been nothing short of transformative. Through their personal investment and founding of Friends of Historic Downtown Big Spring, they have sparked momentum and community pride that is visibly reshaping our downtown district.

In less than one year, the Weeks have:

-Purchased and redeveloped seven properties in the heart of Big Spring
-Brought new life to key locations including:

  • 213 S Main – The 213
  • 215 S Main – Famous Elle
  • 100 E Third St – Succo
  • 123 S Main – Hair by Jose
  • 222 S. Main- Available for Lease
  • 217 S Main-"The Duncan" – Development currently in progress
  • 209 Runnels- Development in progress

Their track record reflects not just business savvy—but vision, heart, and follow-through. Mundy, owner of STRYDER Pipeline and Construction, and Lupita, a passionate community builder, have proven that they don’t just acquire property—they elevate it, honor its roots, and make it matter to the people who live here.

By awarding them the opportunity to purchase and develop the Texas Building, Big Spring will be continuing a revitalization that is already lifting up our city’s economy, aesthetics, and civic pride. We believe that Lupita and Mundy’s vision will:

  • Preserve and celebrate the history of this iconic building
  • Create more opportunities for local jobs, tourism, and growth
  • Reinforce a unified, beautiful, and thriving downtown district

They may not have been born here—but they’ve shown up for Big Spring in every way that counts.

We urge decision-makers to recognize the tremendous value this couple has brought—and will continue to bring—to our community.

Please join us in showing your support by signing below.

Together, let’s keep building something beautiful.

With gratitude,
The Residents and Supporters of Big Spring, Texas

I strongly support any type of POSITIVE growth in our beautiful city. I’ve lived here all my life and I remember our downtown area when it was thriving with CR Anthony’s, Zales, The Record Shoppe, Woolworth, The Ritz, R70 etc….Great Businesses! We can make a difference by supporting this project. Thank You

As a lifelong member of this community I am sure pleased to not only have met this couple but I am truly grateful for the amount of work and vision they have poured into this community.

If anyone deserves this, it’s these people. They have poured into this town — a town they’re not even from & see the potential it has. Without them downtown would not be where it is today.

The improvements and interest that they have brought to Main Street in Big Spring is very significant. Would love to see what they would do with the Texas building. It would bring a whole new atmosphere to Downtown.
