We are concerned citizens of Glen Allen who want to to keep big box stores from ruining our neighborhood.
On August 28, 2015 a Plan of Development (POD) for the property located at the northwest corner of Mountain Road and John Cussons Drive. The POD proposes a 9,734 square-foot Dollar General retail building.
The proposed plan has been distributed for review by County Agencies. The POD is currently scheduled for a public hearing by the Planning Commission at their October 28, 2015 meeting at 9 AM in the Board of Supervisor's Hearing Room.
Let’s make our voices heard. We don’t need a Dollar General on Mountain Road. Sign the petition below to keep Dollar General out of our community.
The corridor is historical. The citizens have been told in the past that even sidewalks could not be built along this road because of its classification as historic. How would a Dollar General be in keeping with "historical"?? The businesses in the area are owned and run by locals. This is the beauty. The shop owners are friends of the neighborhood. It takes much much more than building a cutesy old-fashioned looking store to be a part of the community. Dollar General needs to know this and so does the Planning Commission. There are numerous "Dollar" stores in the area for those that wish to shop there. Another one is NOT needed in this quaint area of Glen Allen. Keep our hometown feeling alive.
