As Allen residents, we petition Allen city council and Allen public library to provide our children an opportunity and environment to learn Chinese language and Chinese American culture. We ask for the library to introduce Chinese bilingual storytime and provide more children's books in Chinese.
We would like the Chinese bilingual storytime to be regularly scheduled and include stories, songs, and crafts. For children ages 0-5.
Thank you in advance for enriching our children's learning experience and celebrating diversity culture.

The emails I keep sending to the library board are met with polite placeholders that say nothing at all. It is draining to keep pushing against this resistance but I am still working behind the scenes to find someone who will actually listen. We are not going anywhere.

This program improves cultural diversity and ethnical integration. We are supposed to share every culture in world to let us know and get familiar in our community or city
It will be great to have Chinese books. Chinese will be a very important language for American businesses.
The local Chinese community is getting bigger and bigger. It makes perfect sense to have Chinese books in the library. Thank you!
I think the bilingual story is a great way to promote Chinese language learning starting from young age.
If setting up story time is challenging at this moment, Allen library should consider gradually adding more Chinese language books or audio books to its collection. We've seen an increasing number of people, especially kids start learning mandarin Chinese as their second or third language in the past few years. We believe adding more Chinese books and later story time will not only benefit Chinese kids but most of all the kids in the entire Collin County.

There are a lot of Chinese books & DVDs in Plano libraries. That's why we always drove to Plano instead of Allen. Wish we could also have more chance to read Chinese books and learn Chinese culture in the city where we live.
