I support the creation of the Hua Mei Charter School, as an English-Mandarin bilingual elementary school located in Essex County, New Jersey. To encourage children to engage with Mandarin at the ages where it is easiest to learn, the school would conduct a significant share of the standard New Jersey elementary public-school curriculum in Mandarin. By immersing the children in Mandarin for part of the school day, children will be encouraged to use the language for general learning and communication, not just in language classes. The school seeks to develop well-rounded children with both a world focus and an early capacity for academic excellence.

The scale of this response confirms the demand for bilingual education in Essex County. I have requested a formal meeting with the district board to present these results and discuss the charter application requirements.

Finally some real options for our kids in this district.
My niece goes to a immersion school and is fluent already. Total game changer. Hope this opens soon
NJ needs this!! Global economy is changing and our kids are falling behind. DO IT.
