The undersigned citizens of Stoughton, Wisconsin, respectfully request that our city leaders change the Municipal and/or Zoning Code to allow up to four female chickens (hens) to be raised as pets in the backyards of single-family residences, with reasonable restrictions. We feel that the raising of chickens provides both children and adults an education in local, sustainable food practices, provides food security, promotes green living, expands our local food supply and provides an opportunity to learn responsibility and compassion towards animals.
