The Foundation for the Advocacy of Sustainable Single Track (FASST) is an organization of local cycling enthusiasts and trail runners who propose to buildmulti activity single track trails within the Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area to compliment the existing trails within the park. Single track trails will be designed for mountain bike riders, trail runners and snow shoe enthusiasts. Creation of single track trails through the Chickakoo area will provide an opportunity within Parkland County for local residents to enjoy more challenging terrain without travelling to destinations outside of Parkland County. We propose to develop and maintain multi-use single track trails in the Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area to appeal to mountain bikers, trail runners, walkers and snowshoers within the county. Other trail users will also benefit from the development of single track trails through reduced user conflict on existing trails.

We propose to create new opportunities for outdoor recreation within ChickakooLake Recreation Areaby creating new trails for single track outdoor activity seekers. Single track trails will be less than 60 cm wide and will not require clearing of large trees. By providing new trails we propose to increase the population dynamic that can enjoy the Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area. Increasing the trails available for non-motorized outdoor recreation will provide Parkland County with an area that can be used to increase social enjoyment of natural areas while improving fitness opportunities within the County. Single track development willhelp promote an active lifestyle for residents of Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and Parkland County through the use of a non motorized, minimal disturbance trail system.

Seeing this kind of energy for the trails at Chickakoo is overwhelming. My own weekends are spent out there and it means the world to see so many people who want to improve that space for all of us.

As a new resident to the area Ive only been there a couple times. I can definitely see the great potential this area has and am more than willing to contribute to the development and maintenance of this system.

This would greatly improve my mountain biking lifestyle at chickakoo. Right now I will run up on people and surprise them. Which usually ends up with someone getting mad.

I have walked my dogs there many times and love riding there but would prefer to ride off the main paths on single track - it scares the horses when I ride my bike near them. There's plenty of woods for all of us !

Yes I was waiting for this day for a while. It's a Big Yes to single Track. Iam a Alberta Cup xc mountain bike racer and I train a lot there.

I would love to see single track trails at Chickakoo! I currently travel to the mountains (Jasper, Canmore, etc) and Hinton to the Hinton Mountain Bike Park and do spend a significant amount of time in the Edmonton River Valley or head to the Devon trail system. It would be great to have something closer to home!
