The Deschutes National Forest has proposed the obliteration of a gem of a trail that hardly anybody knows about. This trail is about 6 miles of mostly single track with some overgrown double track in places. It is an official USFS trail number 6.4 and 6.41 and is shown on many of the older maps. It is called the Sunriver Horse Trail, but it is considered a multi-use trail and makes for some really good mountain biking. The trail is on the west side of the Deschutes River and connects Cardinal Bridge in Sunriver on the south with the Deschutes River Trail at Benham Falls on the north. The trail has fallen into a state of disrepair in the last couple years but it's nothing that a little Trail Love won't fix. The USFS is citing elk habitat as the reason for obliteration and this petition is asking that they look at some sort of seasonal closure to solve this issue because we all know that the elk don't use this area year round. If we can get the USFS and the ODF&W to agree to this our next objective will be to get the new Sunriver/La Pine chapter of COTA to adopt this trail and show it some well deserved love.

We travel to this area to spend our time and money with our vacation plans to mountain bike each year. This is a cool trail which deserves to stay in the plan for use. It also looks to be portrayed as an integral piece to elk habitat and it is not a year around area where elk cohabitate. Thank you

Bob Modena … part of this USFS proposal includes adding COTA managed single track from Cardinal Bridge up to Road 41, over to Catch & Release and up to Tyler's Traverse. But, and this is a big but, they are including the obliteration of this fine trail as a trade off … and their reason is just not valid.

I love this trail and just like other endeavors by the USFS habitat can be redirected very easily. I have Elk in my back yard and they have been enticed to move to a trail I built. Safer and farther from traffic

MTB needs more trails, not less. It makes no sense to eliminate an existing trail in an area where MTB is growing and creating revenue for local communities.

Public trails are for all the public not just the segregating kkk
