Started by Spearfish Bike Skills Park 7 years, 5 months ago

I support the non-profit organization Spearfish Bike Skills Park and their interest in building a bike park in Spearfish.

Skills parks provide an entry point for new cyclist to gain ability and confidence. And for riders of all levels to push themselves and have a great time.

Being in a relatively small area with a variety of terrain and features this park will allow riders of all levels to be together; families & friends of all ages & abilities.

The park will be a place for kids to safely get outside and enjoy a physical activity that is a life-time sport. Kids that are physically and aerobically active tend to stay that way and lead healthier lives as adults.

The park will be an entry point for residents who would like to make positive changes in their health.

Bike parks add dollars to the local economy by growing the sport and encouraging tourism.

This park will be a gateway to the great riding that is available in the Black Hills and what the sport of mountain biking has to offer.

Seeing this kind of momentum feels surreal because I remember looking at empty trails and just wishing for a safe place for my kids to learn. This support shows that our community truly believes in creating a space where everyone can build confidence on their bikes.

We live in Sundance, WY, but frequent spearfish a few times a week and our kiddos would love it. There is a small one in Sundance we use often.

As an advocate for older adults, I would like to see the bike skills park in Spearfish as a resource to rebuild skills and confidence of older riders to promote increased opportunities for safe activities. Increased movement opportunities for all citizens all ages promotes health and happiness for citizens and communities.

I believe this park will have benefits far out reaching the scope of this project. Kids in the area need a place to go and express themselves in nature, without having to get a ride out of to town.

I totally support a bike skills park, i believe we can attract tourists, as well as new people moving to Spearfish due to the awesome "bike culture" that is being created in the northern hills.

As I travel to other communities that support cycling heavily, bike parks/pump tracks/dirt jumps are a great way for people (especially younger kids) to hone technical skills and, well, just have a blast! I support this addition to the swell shredding community of Spearfish!

The bike community in the Spearfish area is very dedicated to improving the community, and provides great economic benefits to many local businesses. A bike skills park would be a great addition to the area.

It will add to Spearfish’s national reputation as the trailhead for mountain biking.
