A traffic study was conducted during 2004 by Andrew Wang, Prairie Village city councilman. The findings showed that the AVERAGE speed on Cherokee Drive is nearly 35 mph, well above the speed LIMIT of 25 mph. Yet nothing has been done to correct the problem. Drivers are using Cherokee Drive as a shortcut from 75th & Belinder to 71st & Mission Road. They are tailgating residents, running stop signs, ignoring pets and children and reducing the quality of living in Prairie Hills. Our property values are bound to decrease as a result of this increased traffic. Please urge our City Council to take immediate action during 2005 to restore the safety and livability of Cherokee Drive.

Updates

July 23, 2005

The momentum is undeniable now. City officials can no longer pretend this isn't a priority.
