Nothing to gain for the community, But a great deal to lose. As a new resident in the Syerston, I can state incontestably that the loss of the pub will result of a loss of interest in the area. I hope the council champions a better sense of civic duty than the custodians.

Having grown up in Elston for all of my life it would be an incredible shame to see The Chequers closed down. I have spent many happy Friday nights with my family and friends there, and to lose such a valuable asset to the community would be detrimental to villagers, now and in the future.

Properly run this pub could and should be a successful business. All that is driving this application for change of use is the fact that as a house it is worth far more than as a freehold pub. Please examine the case carefully, and ,decline it.

To see The Chequers turned into a private house would be a massive loss to the village. With Elston set to grow, not ensuring the protection of the pub and allowing the closure of this community asset now would be shortsighted.

When people look at moving into a village they want a shop, a school and a PUB. Elston is a very sociable village and we must protect our PUBlic house from having its license taken away as once it's gone, I'm sure it will be very difficult to get it back

I used to work in the pub in the early days when it was busy - poor management and lack of customer care (I am being polite!) has driven people away. They need to move on and let proper professionals run the pub as the community would come back to use such a valuable asset in our village.

A village the size of Elston should be able to support a pub......if it is properly run.
