We all love our beatiful state of Colorado and all that it has to offer. This year has proven to make this even more dear to our hearts as we all stayed home for safety and tried to stay within 12 miles of home at any given time. That being said, we saw an increase in the use of "recreational toys" across the entire town. And with this, we are seeing an increase of the number of residents who own these items in our neighborhood.

Chatfield Corners HOA currently prohibits the parking (even temporarily for minutes) of recreational toys. Thus is you want to use your camper, your boat, your UTV for the day, you have to plan well in advance and send an email to let the HOA know you will be using your toy. You are now allowed to come home late and park you camper, your raft, etc wake up the next day and bring it to storage. You even run the risk of getting a violation if you are using your ATV and sitting in your driveway with it running (I personally recevied one, appeal wtih the HOA only to be told "we are sorry about your luck in that the code enforcement officer happened to drive by when you were sitting and waiting for your family to go take a ride"). The rules and regulations we currently have in place were put there by the developers of this subdivision and lets face it, developers are trying to get the most they can as a return on the investment so of course the covenenants are currently strict and outdated. Other HOA's in Eagle County have much more appropriate rules and make it much easier to abide!

Thus, this petition is asking for Chatfield Corner HOA Rules to Be Amended in similar format to that of other HOA's in our area so that we can enjoy our summer and winter toys accordingly by allowing temporary storage during unloading, loading and use of such toy.

A recreational vehicle (RV) is defined as a vehicle or trailer that is designed, constructed and equipped, either temporarily or permanently, as a temporary accommodation for travel, vacation, or recreational use and to be driven, towed or transported.

RVs and include:

  • duly licensed travel trailers
  • motorized homes and camper vans
  • slide-in campers
  • chassis-mounted campers
  • licensed tent trailers

Park, pack and prepare your RV in 48 hours. RV must be fully parked in your driveway and not blocking any public areas such as sidewalks.

Why 48 hours?

  • Allows an RV owner sufficient time to load and unload their RV.
  • Minimizes disruption to neighbors and other road users.
  • Avoids long duration stays over weekends and the potential for the RV to be used as a dwelling.
  • Discourages RV parking all week.

Season Toy's are defined as those items such as UTV's, ATVs, Boats, Rafts, Dirtbikes, snowbikes & snowmobiles.

Seasonal Toys Include

  • River Rafts on Licensed Trailers
  • All Terrain Vehicles including Side by Sides
  • boats on license trailers
  • snowmobiles on Licensed Trailers

Park, pack and prepare your toys in 24hours. Toys must be fully parked in your driveway and not blocking any public areas such as sidewalks.

Why 24 hours?

  • Allows an owner sufficient time to load and unload and or protects them during the use of the items such as temporary parking.
  • Minimizes disruption to neighbors and other road users.
  • Avoids long duration stays over weekends and the potential for the toy to be stored for long periods and proves owner has ample storage.
