Section 5605 prohibits any type of recreational vehicle be visible on personal property in Agoura Hills. This puts a huge financial burden on outdoor-loving owners who own these vehicles, especially now, during one of the worst economic times in our history.

However, the section protects others in the community from the visible blight of recreational vehicles, in various conditions, that could mar the natural landscape of a neighborhood.

To satisfy everyone’s concerns, section 5605 should be amended. The city could enact new code(s) that would address this aesthetic issue but also allow recreational vehicle owners to store their RVs or boats, on their land, thus saving thousands of dollars in storage fees.

The solution is to start a discussion and consider the many options we can target to address more of the community's needs. One way is to require all recreational vehicle owners to cover their RV or boat with a pleasing, earth-toned colored canvas cover if they want to store it on their land. The presence of these covered vehicles would then not be visually offensive to anyone in the community and would instead proclaim our community’s respectful love of the outdoors.

If the city agreed to enter into discussions to amend code 5605, it would only allow the storage of these vehicles on private property and not change the rules for public land.

The feedback I have received so far highlights a clear divide between property rights and neighborhood aesthetics. I am currently drafting a formal proposal to the city council that incorporates the suggestion of using neutral covers to address these visual concerns. Your input is proving instrumental in shaping how we approach potential compromises during upcoming discussions.

The momentum behind this request suggests that many residents are looking for a more balanced approach to how we manage our properties. Seeing this level of engagement confirms that a conversation regarding Ordinance 5605 is long overdue.

This would help out so many families in agoura hills. Why pay someone else every month to store a trailer I own?

Finally someone is bringing this up. Really hope the city listens.

Yes please! As long as it is covered and clean it shouldn't be an issue. Let us park on our own driveways.

Total common sense solution. Earth tone covers look way better than an empty driveway anyway.

Storage fees are just ridiculous these days. My boat is paid for but I cant even keep it in my own side yard because of this silly rule.

What a great way to allow more people to enjoy the outdoors especially after what we have all been through this past year.
