Since the news of 'Eunoia Junior College' being announced on the 29th of December 2015, many have expressed their disappointment, anger or outrage at the given name, which means 'beautiful thinking'. It has been featured on the popular comedy site, SGAG, and many have commented about how unhappy they are about the given name. Thus, this petition was started in a bid to suggest a change in the name of the JC, since there is still a year left before the school accepts its' first batch of students. The name is not reflective of Singaporean, Southeast Asian or Asian culture & heritage. Why Greek? Why not Indian? Arabic? We have no Zeus nor Jupiter... we don't speak Latin. But we are Singaporean and Asian.
After getting suggestions from all the students, this is the outcome? Seriously? Why dun let the students vote instead? After forcing them to travel to MT Sinai, now we gave them a funny school name. Wats next.. maybe an ugly uniform. Pls change the name and the students will be happier
Please lah enough of embarrassment liao... name also same same change to a easy understood by local people lah. Trinity JC which is 3 become 1 so simple to understand. Plus 2 of the school are missions school very significant. Or Marymount (MJC) is so easy to read and understand.
As a parent of a boy in this new JC, I find the new jc name too difficult to pronounce even though there is a good meaning behind it. I am unimpressed and would like to reject it if I could. Wonder what was MOE thinking. Disappointed.
Since Eunoia means beautiful thinking it does not really have much impact on others, example when you go for competitions and represent your school the word Eunoia is a little too delicate and feminine.
When you first hear a name you will know almost instantaneously whether it is right or wrong. In this case, I have to agree with so many of us that this requires serious consideration for the name of the JC to be changed. The change should reflect the rich tradition and long history all the 3 schools possess to do justice for the students and teachers alike. Names to be considered are: Bishan JC, Trinity JC

Intention is good but it just wont fly. Whats wrong with a simple name like Bishan JC or Upper Thomson JC. We should get our kids to be proud of of local names instead copy and paste from God knows where.
