This petition has been restarted due to the overwhelming amount of support from fellow Singaporeans. The previous petition, Changing Eunoia JC, had garnered over 150 signatures and comments, and was briefly mentioned in 2 Straits Times articles, one and two. Eunoia, which means 'beautiful thinking' and medically, 'a state of normal mental health', is a rarely-used word of Greek origin. Many people have voiced their concerns over this decision, including the popular local comedy site SGAG, which has led to numerous jokes being made about the name. I am honestly stunned by how many people have stepped up to share their perspective on this. This momentum belongs entirely to the community who cared enough to speak out.

It is worrying to see that such a name, with no relevance to its location, affiliated schools and its culture, was chosen. It only reflects the type of thinking at the ministerial level backed by excessive Western influences for the mere sake of being so.
Am a CHS old boy. No relevance to the roots of the 3 schools. Can't relate, emotionally and. sentimentally. Ignatius Low the journalist placed it most aptly with his article in Straitstimes.
I am an alumni and my 3 daughters are alumni of St Nics too. I have been invited back to speak at several occasions at St Nichs but with such a pretentious and ridiculous name for a JC, I know for sure my grandchildren will never be going there.
Singaporeans have been spoken -on mainstream and alternative media, print and broadcast media as well. A name lasts for a lifetime. When we choose names for our children we consider not only its meaning but also how it sounds and may sound as well. Minister of Education: please reconsider!
As an old girl from St nicks, I am ashamed of this JC name. There has been nothing but bad reviews of the name and this is just the start of other schools making fun of the name. The meaning is beautiful but paired as a JC name, it sounds terrible. I'm so glad I didn't go to this JC.
The name ' Eunonia JC' is definitely bad taste. Please change name of JC to Trinity Junior College or Singapore Junior College.
EUnuch + paraNOIA = EUNOIA. The MOE scholar who came up with this portmanteau deserves to be spayed.

Why on Earth be a SG51 new school be given a name not in any of our 4 official languages? Isn't this going against the promise by MOE that our schools are created equal?
