Sad as it is to think about, there may come a time in all our lives when we or a loved one will require long term care. It is not something I thought we would ever have to be faced with at the young age of 65, but here we are, and I am just trying to live a modest life on the little income I am left with. The Government gives you a subsidy, they calculate the cost for your loved one care and leave you with very little to try and maintain your home and live a modest life.
We have to take a stand, these antiquated calculations need to be updated, if not for us then lets do it for the next generation
I have lived 6 1/2 yrs while my husband was in long term care. During this period I dealt not only with the stress of having a sick spouse, but also with all the stressors associated with daily living on your own, extreme limited income, and dealing with the bureaucracy of long term care issues.
