Change the IIPP to allow long sleeve welding shirt and jeans as an option to coveralls whenever coveralls are required
On July 14, 2023 We will be meeting with Safety Staff to discuss updating the IIPP to allow the option of long sleeve welding shirts and jeans in lieu of coveralls. We want the option to pick either coveralls or a long sleeve welding shirt and jeans. This petition is only to show safety who supports this. The details of FR, brands, etc will be discussed later.
Any Employees (union representative and management) and Contractors that are affected by the requirement of coveralls who support having the option to use long sleeve welding shirts and jeans in lieu of coveralls should be encouraged to sign. When you sign, it would be appreciated if you would put your name, work location and years of service in the comment section.

Ventura base. 12 years. Coveralls are way too heavy for the heat we deal with out here.
Field Tech Bakersfield 8 years We need more options that are actually breathable.
Rolando Tovar, pipe trades, Welder, been certified and consistently working for SoCalGas and SDGE projects for 13 years and have been working in the pipeline trades for 16 years.
PLEASE let us switch. Dealing with heat exhaustion in July is a nightmare in those suits.
It gets really hot on the summer to weld all wrapped up like that it would be nice to use it just whenever it makes sense
