According to Tile II of the ADA, "States and local governments must ensure that individuals with disabilities are not excluded from services, programs, and activities because buildings are inaccessible." This includes Grand Forks public swimming pool programs at Elks and Riverside pools that are currently not accessible to individuals with disabilities.
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to remodel or incorporate into current reconstruction means to make the Elks and Riverside swimming pools accessible to individuals with disabilities and/or limited mobility.
I have been spending my evenings meeting with local families who have been locked out of our community pools for far too long. Their stories remind me why this fight matters and why we cannot let the city ignore its legal obligations any longer.

Seeing this kind of movement confirms that so many of you understand why our pools need to be open to everyone regardless of physical ability. My own family has felt the sting of these locked gates for too long but this energy proves we are finally being heard.
