As a Mechanical Engineering Class, we believe that it would be much more useful to learn a relevant programming language during our one credit Intro to Engineering Computing AME 20214 course. While we recognize that Professor Powers did briefly go over C, we only spent one class on this language; the majority of classes were spent learning Fortran. Fortran is an outdated and irrelevant language and during our brief time here we have encountered C in other classes such as Differential Equation Vibrations and Controls II, Intro to Electrical Engineering, and other AME technical electives. In addition, C is much more relevant to industry. As a class we are petitioning to change the curriculum in AME 20214 to cover C, a relevant and useful programming language.

FORTRAN helped a bit with understanding logic but is overwhelmingly inapplicable to any sort of engineering us as Aerospace and Mechanical Engineers may find ourselves in.
