We, the Berkeley Chemical Engineering students, oppose the amalgamation of Chemical Engineering 154 and 157. Furthermore, we also oppose the proposal to eliminate the requirement of taking BOTH Chemical Engineering 160 and 162.
We feel that going through with the said curriculum changes will be detrimental to the education of future Chemical Engineering students here in the College of Chemistry, and that these changes will inevitably compromise the standards that make us a respectable and top notch institution.
I was just huddled over a textbook in the lounge and realized that if 154 and 157 merge we might actually lose the core focus required for our lab work. People keep stopping me in the hallways to say they feel the same way about the 160 and 162 situation which is honestly wild because it shows how many of us are worried about these standards being watered down.

Seeing all these names show up on my screen feels surreal and honestly a little overwhelming because I really thought this was just going to be a quiet complaint between a few stressed students in the lab. The department has to notice that we actually care about the quality of our degree and that we are willing to push back when they try to water down our coursework.

154 and 157 are completely different subjects. combining them is a joke and anyone who has taken these classes knows it would be a disaster.

PLEASE DONT DO THIS. we already have such a heavy workload and cutting these courses will leave us totally unprepared for industry.
