The school board backed down and the old dress code is officially returning. It has been a long and exhausting fight but I am relieved that we finally reached the end of this struggle. Please stay alert to ensure they keep their word moving forward.

Final supporters
The new dress code for the 2018-2019 East Hamilton school year stifles students rights of self expression, their creativity, and individualism. For the past nine years, the dress code that was enforced allowed for a welcoming and positive atmosphere to thrive among the student body. - Parents/guardians would have more money available to support the school in activities and fundraisers, as well as to support their student(s) with supplies, if they didn't have to buy two separate wardrobes.
- There would be less infractions upon the school dress code with keeping the standard that we have always known, than trying to change it.
- It would be far more distracting having students pulled out of class and hallways for not having their shirt tucked than someone having their shoulders showing in class.

This is absolutely ridiculous. It is far more distracting for a kid to get detention for no belt then someone minding there own business wth there knees showing. I’m for a dress code limits, but this is not a private school.
Discriminatory dress code which violates Hamilton counties discrimination ethos. Discriminatory against women and those from lower economic backgrounds, it is a disgrace and parents were not even informed, nevermind consulted.
Man this whole dress code is a waist of money it might be a rich area but not everyone got the money to be waisting on “polos” or “chino pants” Mr. Eller I want you to get ready to suspend a lot of people because no one is going to go out of there way to to buy polos
Having us change our outfits last minute and us not being able to wear sweatshirts and other creative shirts is crazy, I express my emotions through my outfits that’s the only way I can and taking it away is like telling me I’m not allowed to show my feelings
I feel like this hurts parents more than students. With only one month until school starts, we have to rush to find clothes. I like the idea of a dress code, but it would be better to be inforced for the 2019-2020 school year. Parents would have time to plan better.
I cannot believe with all of the parents and students who have spoken out on this issue that nothing has been done. Brent Eller is a terrible Principal, he should be ashamed of himself. He actually had the audacity to tell me that East Hamilton had the worst test scores of any high school in the state. (as a reason for his new ridiculous dress code) When I sent him a reply proving this ridiculous statement incorrect, I never heard another word out of him. Is it any wonder the parents and students from his previous school are thankful to be rid of him?
Decided to move our family out of East Hamilton after the holiday break. The school and area have gone down hill big time, it's easy to see there are others doing the same thing. Hope Principal Eller realizes what he's done, good families are moving on.

My family just relocated to Chattanooga and one of the main reasons we chose East Hamilton was due to the fact there was not a dress code. We have already purchased his clothes for the coming school year, which are now completely useless. Very disappointed with this decision.
