This petition is created to protest the unfair changes to the parking options within Carleton Place town homes located in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The new changes make it extremely difficult, or impossible, for many residents to have any visitors other than those who reside in Carleton. This eliminates the opportunity for close friends and family to visit, which is a crucial part of socialization and the social wellbeing of all individuals, and should not be compromised by living in Carleton. This is especially important during a pandemic when these are the only people we safely and regularly interact with, and while outside places to socialize are restricted. The visitors parking provided is extremely inadequate compared to the size of Carleton Place.

Additionally, the parking changes make it very difficult for all individuals living in Carleton homes to easily park on the street, and require a parking pass, which will often be traded off by residents. This is unfair for individuals with families and busy work schedules who come and go often, and assumes that all families have the privilege of scheduling times to use the one parking pass available for purchase.

The changes made to parking regulations in Carleton are unfair, unwelcoming, and clearly show that Carleton is more interested in pleasing local towing companies than their respectful residents.

This petition requests that Carleton continue with the regulations that have been in effect all of 2020, until August 31st, and not proceed with the changes that are to be implemented September 1st.
