This petition is to show that Cape Coral is a community with a changing demographic. The boat and commercial vehicle ordinances are outdated and need to be changed. There are many growing families in this community. It isn't just a retiree area.

Cape Coral claims to be a boaters paradise but we can't even bring them home to work on them or clean them without getting notices. Then when we comply with the notice we still have to deal with hearings.

There are many hard working members of this community in the service industry like plumbers and electricians. Many of these folks get to bring their company vehicles home which is part of their compensation package. They should be allowed.

A small suggestion would be a legally registered boat and trailer with no flat tires. Also a single axle work vehicle. These would allow most to be in compliance without making the area trashy.

If you are in support of either or both of these let's work together and help the council push for change.

Also for those in favor please shoot an email to David Stokes or the mayor with a quick positive note. http://www.capecoral.net/government/city_governmen...

There will be a workshop at the council meeting on March 26th. Please show up and help us get this moving forward.

I'd like to grow in Cape Coral but with these boat ordinances I would rather rent my house in Cape and move else where. How is seeing a boat in front of a house, IN FLORIDA, going to lower property values? It's not 1980, $250 for a week's worth of food, or storing a boat?

There has to be a compromise that benefits all of the Capes residents. Nobody is for allowing broken down, "junky" boats or vehicles, but these draconian ordinances do not serve our citizens.

we are a growing city, this city is for everyone, singles, families, retirees and snow birds.. We all pay taxes one way or another... So please stop taking our Rights away.. I don't owned a boat or a work vehicle but I think is unfair to those that are working so hard to support their families..

I support a change to allow a boat or commercial vehicle to be parked in your driveway. The law is archaic, do a search of registered cars, cans and truck when the ordinance was enacted. Times have changed and so have the vehicles that residents are now driving.

My husband works in the air conditioning industry. Whenever he'said been granted a work truck or van, code enforcement comes and makes him cover up the company's signs or park somewhere else other than our home. That's not right! It needs to be changed. We pay our taxes.

This is a working community. I think with some guidelines these things should be acceptable. Perhaps then it will free up some time for code enforcement to handle real problems in our area.

I believe that as long as the boat is not in disrepair , there is nothing wrong with allowing boat and trailer in driveway or side yard / backyard .
