President Obama, you promised during your presidential campaign that families earning less than $250,000 per year would not see a tax increase. Please note that I would consider "skyrocketing" monthly electric bills as a result of cap and trade legislation to be a type of tax whether you formally call it one or not. I would also consider it a broken campaign promise on your part which would heavily influence my vote in the 2012 election. Should the cap and trade bill reach your desk, please veto it. Americans do not need to pay higher electric bills in this economy.

We just hit 1,000 signatures on this petition. Now I need you to email your representative today and tell them that you oppose any legislation that increases your monthly electric bills.

The pressure is mounting as more of you weigh in on how cap and trade will hit your household budget. Call your representative today and tell them that energy costs should not be the target of new legislation. We need to keep this momentum steady until the veto happens.

We are approaching one hundred signatures and need to maintain this momentum to catch the attention of the administration. Post the link on your Facebook wall right now and text three friends to ask them to sign. This pressure is vital to stop these tax increases.

We are struggling to pay for groceries as it is. We cant afford another tax disguised as a green initiative. Leave our paychecks alone.

If this passes my bill will double. Stop playing games with our money and focus on real jobs.

Enough with the taxes already. My electric bill is high enough as it is without some new government scheme added on top.

Keep your hands out of our pockets. This economy is still a mess and people are barely getting by. Veto this disaster.
