Sad... We change childhood traditions because of fear. Carmel's parade is truly the best around because of its reverence for our veterans. However, for kids, candy is a big deal... It creates a big memory of happiness that makes them return as adults with their children.

I have been for many years, but will not go anymore since candy banned.

This is the "draw" for the kids. Try keeping them engaged for the entire parade of advertisements and old men driving go-carts. The ban on candy will ultimately lead to fewer people attending the parade. Guaranteed.
