Many students have voiced their concerns on the ongoing issue with air quality. This issue has affected many students' physical behavior including lightheadedness, shortness of breath, and much more. LGSUHSD is one of the school districts that has not canceled school due to the air quality from the North Bay Wildfires. The air quality rating in our area has been RED for the past several days, meaning that it is extremely unhealthy.
In recent days, schools and universities all over the Bay Area such as West Valley College and SJSU have decided to cancel classes. Sign this petition to demonstrate to the Los Gatos- Saratoga High School District that canceling classes is a need for the students' health. Steps need to be taken to prioritize students' health and aid students from breathing in the smoke polluted air.

I have Reactive Airway disease and Asthma, getting myself to school and back is genuinely painful and I threw up yesterday morning after biking to school. The air quality is horrible and my inhaler, as well as those of my other poor-lunged friends, is doing nothing at this point. It’s messed up dawg
In SF the schools were closed when the air quality reached 240, we are currently at 239 and have “very unhealthy air quality”. I get a headache when I go outside. Yes I don’t want school but I also actually dread going outside because of the effects of the air. 275+ is dangerously high to cancel classes.
I live in the area and all the colleges have canceled class, some businesses are closed due to the smoke. Why should these kids have to breath in caustic fumes while everyone else stays home?
i have seen lots of kids coughing and kids with asthma struggling to breathe. We are a mostly outdoor campus making it impossible to get to class without being exposed to the horrible air. it’s not safe to hold school
Several students have been forced to wear masks, sn many so that the lical hardware store is sold out. As an asthmatic student with breathing problems I worry both for myself and for the student population.
I wish that girls would actually treat me like I’m straight so it looks to my friends that I’m not gay, like really I know I’m a gbf and can’t get off the hug, but my friends can’t know I’m gay
I don’t wanna die.

The smoke has been greatly affecting my physical health, especially since I have exercise-induced asthma. However, in the extremely competitive environment of this school, missing a day would be highly detrimental. If school is cancelled, students wouldn’t have to worry about falling behind.
