The goal of this petition is to advocate on behalf of those who cannot self advocate because of cognitive impairment (CI) and as a result have been placed in an assisted living facility (ALF). This includes but is not limited to those people who have Dementia, Alzheimer's, traumatic brain injury, and the like.

This petition is asking if you will support a BiIl that will give the families of cognitively impaired patients the undeniable right to place a camera with audio and visual recording in the room of the CI patient.

Currently, the nursing home business has THE right to grant or deny the request to place a camera in a patient's room; however, this gives too much anonymity to the caretakers who know fully that the patient cannot recall any facts or details of events that happen to them, near them, or even by them. Having a camera on a CI patient will give everyone transparency into the day-to-day life of a committed individual, will allow families to support the caretakers, and will give confidence in the care of a person who cannot think for him or herself.

After all, do YOU want to be left alone in the care of someone who knows fully that no one will ever know what was done to you in private? Please sign this petition, I beg you. It might protect you one day!
