Petition to Legislative Assembly of Alberta
Vulnerable Persons Emergency [BLUE🔹️ALERT] Broadcast
To the Legislative Assembly of Alberta:
We, the undersigned residents of Alberta, respectfully petition the Legislative Assembly to introduce legislation establishing a Vulnerable Persons Emergency Alert System publicly known as the BLUE ALERT🔹️
Whereas:
Vulnerable children and adults frequently go missing because of autism, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and other cognitive conditions;
Time is one of the most important factors affecting the safe recovery of missing vulnerable persons;
Existing emergency alert systems do not always apply to these situations;
Alberta families deserve a rapid, coordinated emergency response when a vulnerable loved one goes missing;
Therefore, we respectfully request that the Government of Alberta:
Establish a Vulnerable Persons Emergency Alert System known as the BLUE ALERT.
Authorize law enforcement to activate alerts when established risk criteria are met.
Broadcast alerts through Alberta Emergency Alert and other public communication systems.
Develop the legislation in consultation with disability organizations, caregivers, emergency responders, privacy experts, and affected families.
By creating this legislation, Alberta can strengthen public safety and help save lives.
Together, we can ensure that no vulnerable Albertan is left without the benefit of immediate public awareness during a critical emergency.

I am supporting this petition because my son is autistic and has wandered away before without understanding the risks. No family should face those terrifying moments without every available resource to help locate their loved one. A BLUE ALERT could save lives by ensuring a rapid, coordinated public response.
As a mom of a special needs child, I want a system that gives immediacy to his search if he ever gets lost. And so that cases like Parker’s do not happen again.
My Childrens are both diagnose with ASD & I had a first hand experience of Child’s Elopement with my Eldest
I have a special needs child who is non verbal. I hope he never does it but in case he does walk away somewhere this will help alert people faster to look for him. And all the other kids and seniors who go missing
Those that have additional vulnerabilities should have immediate and timely emergency response to increase the likelihood of successful intervention.
Because I have an autistic child
I know how scary it is when a child elopes out onto the street and how fast it can happen, even when prepared to prevent it. It’s so important to keep our little friends safe. It takes a community of caring people to do this. This one thing can make a huge difference.

I have an autistic son and too many go missing and no alerts are created and the ending is never good
