We need to change the reverse car parks on Bowra street, Nambucca Heads to forward facing car parks. For these following reasons

1. They majorly interrupt the flow of traffic, especially during busy times. It is far easier to drive in on an angle and reverse out on the same angle. It usually takes most cars several attempts to get the angle correct to reverse into the park, causing a huge impact of traffic flow.

2. This leads to safety issues as people are reversing into traffic on angles back and forth several times. If they were forward facing the car would reverse once and once only into the incoming traffic. This point proves people are capable of using their reverse cameras and mirrors as they must do so currently to park in these car parks.

3. This is also a danger to pedestrians on the footpath. A lady was bumped into recently by a Ute with a tray.

4. The fumes from the vehicles go directly into shops, pedestrians and people sitting at the cafes. Apparently a survey was conducted and shop owners voted against the car parks changing to forward facing. I pose the inhalation of these fumes as reason for their clouded judgment.

5. People don't like change and this has also clouded their ability to see what works best for a town. Every other state in Australia has forward facing parks and the communities are happy with this. Coffs has recently changed to forward facing. This seems to be working well for them. And could be investigated as to how well it works.

Please sign if you agree with this issue. Council states they have investigated and I do not believe this was an unbiased investigation. If you only ask shop fronts and locals who hate change, how can a town improve and better itself. We need to keep up with the times and the work towards improvements rather than clinging to the old. Let's strive towards potential rather than clinging to the past.

The momentum is undeniable now. Local drivers clearly agree that Bowra Street needs a safer design.

The fumes from car exhaust’s are not good for our health. The change in Coffs Harbour has been successful. And I agree driving in and backing out is much more efficient and doesn’t hold up traffic.

This disruption to traffic is significant in busy periods, it also prevents tourist from visiting stores in town. I have personally had friends visit who avoid the Main Street because it’s too hard to get a park.

I moved here a few years ago from Victoria. This reverse into carpark situation is so bizarre. I’d never seen it before moving here. And never parked on that street because I can’t take the pressure haha

I sit at a Bowra St Cafe everyday and watch the abysmal attempts at reverse parking. So many dual-cabs overhang the footpath with their towbars at shin level.

I've seen so many people get upset and start beeping when someone's trying to reverse in. Obviously it's not locals and people who don't know what's going on. The pole in front of good time charlies is always getting hit by long cars / often Ute's reversing and not being able to see it. That alone is a disaster waiting to happen.

It is just as unsafe with people reversing into the park as well as reversing out of. The current parking situation also holds up traffic and causes congestion in the street and at intersections.

I agree it's easier,much quicker and safer.

I hope that council will eventually find a way to make Bowra a one way street with large pedestrian footpaths. Making the carpark behind Golden Sands two levels, could help with loss of parking spaces.
