Following the publication of the Williams Commission's recommendation that the local authorities of Ynys Mon and Gwynedd be merged, we the undersigned call on the Welsh Government to retain the Isle Of Anglesey as a separate local authority and not to merge the authority with Gwynedd.

January 26, 2014

The emails keep coming in from people who feel like their local identity is being erased by a map change. It is exhausting to fight against a government that clearly has no interest in listening to us, but I am not walking away from this yet.

The momentum behind this effort has grown into something I honestly did not expect. It has been a long road and the fatigue is setting in but seeing this response proves that we are right to fight for our local identity.

Representation of the requirements of Anglesey constituents will be lost in the larger organisation. What we need is a review of how all the services and budgets that affect Anglesey should be administered.

I fear that we will revert back to the inferior services that the island was receiving; when the council was last administered from Caernarfon

Let our council utilise any revenues we will receive from new wylfa and the leisure park near Holyhead for too long we have list industry and jobs. let us reap the benefits not gwynedd they are separate and island money to be used this side of bridge.

Anglesey is very unique in so many ways - let's not 'lose' that and disappear into a monolithic area where we lose our 'ownership' of local, Anglesey relevant issues.

We have defined borders.....and with the income from tourism and the coming of Wylfa B why should we have to lose out on the benefits so that they can build new roads etc in the present Gwynedd

Byddai ymuno Ynys Môn gyda Gwynedd yn golygu y byddai'r ardal yn llawer rhy fawr ar gyfer un awdurdod i reoli.

The island is a very special entity. It suffered last time it was administered from Caernarfon.
