Petition Background: Due to COVID-19 precautions, community amenities (gym, coffee machine, roof top, rhythm lounge, lobby, etc.) were shut down to residents in March 2020 due to state and local guidelines. As we approach the end of the year and the city of Portland has begun to resume normal activity, we still have limited access to some of these amenities with no communication from management as to when the amenities (that we pay for) will open in full. Simple cleaning changes and posted rules would allow for residents to have access to the amenities again.
Petition Action: Management should reopen all amenities in full with strategies around how to keep community members safe:
- Coffee Machine: Residents bring their own cups and use provided sanitizer wipes before and after use. Management to create a daily cleaning schedule for extra precautions.
- Gym: Normal gym hours should resume (limited capacity) with cleaning supplies for residents to use before, during and after use. Management can do a final cleaning before leaving for the day and first thing in the morning. Having it closed outside office hours does not provide any additional benefits.
- Roof and Rhythm Lounge: Normal hours should resume (limited capacity) with the ability to reserve the space for groups. Cleaning supplies should be provided at each door for residents to use before and after use. Having it closed outside office hours does not provide any additional benefits.
We, the undersigned, are concerned residents who urge the Cadence Apartment (Conam) management to act now.

I understand the need to have some precautions. However, at the very least the outdoor part of the rhythm lounge should be open. This is one of the best feature of this building and it's being completely wasted, especially since we know that there is very little risk to outdoor exposure. Additionally, we need free weights returned to the gym. A gym with essentially only a treadmill is borderline useless. I can run outside if I need to do that, but I do not have a substitute for weight workouts. Social distancing needs to be observed, but residents should be responsible for wiping down weights before and after use if they have concerns about covid transmission from these surfaces.
Little opinion of other measures, but I agree there's little point in limiting access hours
Agree! If we can't use them can we suggest a reduced rent fee?
These amenities are advertised and lure people to rent here. We should have full access to them.
