The Battle Ground YMCA will be a place where citizens of all ages can thrive with healthy educational and recreational options, a pool, event space, and youth center.
*Based on approx. median home value of $250,000, a 20M bond would increase property taxes by about $10 per month over a 15 year period.

Battle Ground desperately needs a YMCA with a swimming pool. Every year there are drownings in local rivers and lakes. We need affordable swimming lessons and programs for children and families in our community.
We need more exercise facilities in Battle Ground. Our population is growing and need access to a variety of exercise opportunities in our city. A pool would be especially helpful for those of us with physical limitations on land.
There is a large population in Battle Ground and north (La Center, Amboy, Yacolt) whom's closest pools are Kid's Club or The Y at 503. That is a 30+ min drive for most. A Y in Battle Ground will serve the north county and will be well used.
I would gladly pay an extra $10 in taxes for our very own BGYMCA. We loved going to the one in Vancouver, but since we moved out to Battle Ground, the distance makes it tough for our family to make regular visits. Unfortunately we had to discontinue our membership to the Vancouver YMCA because of the added travel time.
Battle Ground is growing at an outstanding rate with zero of the infrastructure that makes it a pleasurable place. Overcrowded poor schools, nothing to do for kids (you have to drive for gymnastics, pool, etc). This is one of the best things that could happen to this town!
It would be great to have a public pool and fitness center in Battle Ground.

We need kids off the street doing something useful and positive with their time. My 15 yo brother said Fentanyl is hitting the high schoolers, the runaways sleeping over by BG Walmart. There isn't much to do here. I want to see my 7 year old son having something to do with his time when he's a teenager.
