Petition for a Traffic Light at the intersection of Billy Howey Rd. & New Town Rd in Union County, NC

We petition the NC Department of Transportation to install a four-way traffic light at the intersection of SR 1315 (New Town Rd.) at SR1329 (Billy Howey Rd). This intersection is extremely dangerous and has a high crash frequency resulting in 39 accidents over the last five years alone not including non-reported accidents. This intersection continues to increase in use as the surrounding area has developed with new residential neighborhoods and a significant increase in population.
We would like safety improvements at this intersection and believe the addition of a traffic signal will reduce accidents and help assure the safety of our families in Union County. As concerned citizens, we urge you to sign this Petition to have a traffic light installed at this location to make travel through the intersection of Billy Howey Rd and New Town Rd as safe as possible. NCDOT and Union County need to make this a priority before anyone else is hurt or fatally injured.

i live very close to this intersection. i have seen the aftermath of numerous accidents as well as numerous near misses at this intersection. i personally would like to see a traffic circle as opposed to traffic lights. i understands that due to land and space limitations that a traffic circle may not be feasible at this location.
Very dangerous intersection. Difficult to see if anything is coming over the hill on New Town from Billy Howie. Always nervous crossing over as to what might be barreling over that hill!
That intersection is so dangerous! People wait so long they take any chance they get to cross and I have witnessed 3 wrecks myself around 5 to 6 in the evening, the mornings are just as bad! With all the new developments and CARS they should have seen that need a long time ago! What are they wanting on.....a fatality

My son was hit at this intersection while coming up New Town Rd. 7 years ago. Flipped our Tahoe and went skidding down the road. Miraculously walked away from it with only minor injuries. Past due for taking action at this intersection.
I feel like a gumble with my life, every time I cross the intersection!

I've been in a bad wreck in this intersection and now I fear every single day that I'm going to get hit again, bad accidents happen here almost everyday and it's not safe.
