I am writing to respectfully request that Petco brings back Brooklyn Rescue Umbrella to the Stillwell Avenue store so that they can adopt out 13 cats through weekend adoption events.  These cats were the remains of an admirable effort to assist the surrounding community and I believe Brooklyn Rescue Umbrella has earned this consideration by their record of rescue done at Petco.

They were a direct link to help for many Petco customers who had nowhere to turn to when kittens were found sick, wet and sometimes dying in our backyards.   Very often Brooklyn Rescue Umbrella helped with hands on instruction in bottle feeding and care of found pets – dogs included.  We knew where to find them 7 days a week from 5 p.m. To store closing hours.  They were responsible for many Random Acts of Kindness although their funds were always strained.

Their cages always seemed pleasant for both the cats and the many  people who came to the store just to see the cats and discuss their concerns about food and care with Brooklyn Rescue Umbrella at Petco.   In the one year that they have been at Petco this group has performed many acts of kindness to Petco customers and their pets as well as for the orphaned kittens and cats that would have been left on a cold sidewalk in a cardboard box or shopping bag.

Please give them the opportunity to find homes for the remaining cats they took in while at Petco.  I understand they have applied online for Adoption Partner status with Petco.  I also understand that just the weekend adoption help in finding homes for these cats is all the consideration they are asking for.

Your site says that “We, at Petco Foundation, realize that the hard and important work has always been done by the folks out in the trenches.”  Brooklyn Rescue Umbrella is just that – out in the trenches.

When Brooklyn Rescue Umbrella couldn't locate a Disaster Relief agency; Brooklyn Rescue Umbrella became the only group that responded to a hoarding intervention in Brighton Beach and found homes for 22 of 45 cats through adoptions at Petco.  Being suddenly removed from Petco has put tleft these cats homeless and BRU in a hardship position.  Please give them the opportunity to find homes for these 13 cats.
