Dear Readers, I love animals, I have three of my own, a dog (Birdie), a hedgehog (Rocky), and a fish (Blue). I am always so disappointed when I hear about a missing animal or when someone says they saw a stray. I bet that has happened to you before, but you don’t need to be helpless anymore. This is why I support Austin Pets Alive.
Austin Pets Alives’ goal is to promote and provide the resources and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals. There are about 70 million stray dogs and 70 million stray cats in the United States. About 6.5 million animals have been put into shelter care every year. But, Austin Pets Alive has saved 90,000 lives and has had over 10,900 pets put in foster care since 2008. This is over a third of Austin’s stray dogs.
In February 2018 they had 145 top dogs that have become adopted. They also have 325 amazing cats. I believe every animal deserves a home Instead of scrounging for food in public dumpsters.This is what stray dogs and cats go through: dogs and cats that live in the streets have no food except for the rare piece of cooked meat, so they are just skin and bone. This lack of good food can lead to illnesses like heartworm and leptospirosis, the worst part about these diseases is that they never get treated for it. Stray dogs have no shelter and warmth which makes it a struggle to survive every night.Another hard struggle that these animals go through is polluted water after a long day at work wouldn’t you want to come home to a nice cold glass of water.These strays don’t get to they have to drink from polluted and dirty water this can also make them very sick.Giving these animals a real home,clean water ,warmth,shelter,and food would be amazing.
Dogs are always loyal to us so it is our turn to be loyal to them. You can adopt and foster animals at Austin Pets Alive you can also donate and volunteer there. Austin Pets alive is an amazing organization and I think you should definitely consider helping save the stray animals of Austin, Texas.
